The Rogue Ales Public House is an excellent place to grab a beer and basket of fish and chips or any of the other delicious items off the menu. We had the Halibut fish and chips and the Albacore Tuna fish tacos which were both excellent. The Rogue Ales Public House is located right in the middle of SW Bay Blvd. just before the 101 bridge that crosses the bay./ There are many shops and eateries right along Newport Bay on Bay Blvd. and worth a short walk before or after your meal if you are just stopping in for eats and a drink from a day at the beach. Parking can be tough on a busy weekend, but there is plenty of spaces and we only had to walk a block and a half from our parking spot to get some lunch. We were given a free beer sample when we sat down before we ordered our meal and drink.

Grab an appetizer and a beer or eat a full meal here next time you are in Newport, Oregon.

Address: 748 Southwest Bay Boulevard, Newport, OR 97365 Check out the menu http://www.rogue.com/locations/pdfs/Menu-BAY.pdf

The Parkside Coffee House located in the middle of Garibaldi, on the left if you are going North through town, makes great coffee and even better roasted turkey sandwich lunches.

We made it here in the early afternoon for lunch, but if you are out and about in Garibaldi in the morning the coffee smelled excellent and there was many really delicious looking breakfast items in the display. The place is rather small and when we arrived there was 4 other trucks in the parking lot as it seemed like many of the locals and guys working nearby stopped by for lunch, but we were able to get a table next to the window looking out to the antique shops across the street. First thing I noticed was that they roast there own turkey, which is just great cause when it came out the Turkey sandwich had thick slices of fresh moist turkey instead of the typical deli style turkey. There were a few other sandwiches available such as an albacore which coincidentally was also the special of the day which was a 1/2 sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. We both settled on getting turkey sandwiches since it seemed like that was there specialty, I had a Turkey with cranbery and cheese mix spread which came with lettuce and tomatoes. My wife ordered the Turkey with bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which was well made unlike some places along the coast, this was a good tasting chowder.

The Parkside Coffee House has a warm feeling inside and the decor is simple yet very fitting for the location and home cooked style lunches that they prepare. The meals come with real heavy silverware, not cheap stuff so common at most restaurants, which is a small thing, but makes this a special place that we look forward to going back to.

The meal was very affordable and we walked away happy and full and ready for exploring the coast.

El Mariachi Loco – Manzanita, Oregon

El Mariachi Loco located in the small North coast town of Manzanita is a nice restaurant a block away from the beach and ocean.  If you are visiting Manzanita and looking for an affordable place to sit down and get a quick bite to eat El Mariachi Loco will do the trick.  There were a couple of issues with the food for us, however overall it was good and we would eat there again.  The tacos came in a regular taco bell style taco shell instead of a more authentic corn tortilla with onions and cilantro.  However the meat inside was delicious, a very soft and tasty beef.  The black beans with the meal were a little dry and were not that great, but I tasted my wife’s re fried beans and they were fine, so I would stick to those here. The guacamole was excellent and good portion and both of our chicken dishes were excellent. The salsa was not too thick seemed a tad watery.

If you are in the need of a Mexican fix then El Mariachi Loco will do the trick and for a family grabbing a bite to eat the dinner won’t break the wallet.  Other menu items included standard mexican dishes including burritos, quesadilla’s etc., and several other house specialties which would be worth a try.

If you are looking for a great deal on a Wednesday at the Oregon Coast check out the Fish Peddler located at the Pacific Oyster site in Bay City. The all you can eat dinner is a great way to stretch your dollars when you want to enjoy a big seafood dinner. You can choose from grilled, fried, and sauteed for the all you can eat dinner. They come out in 6 oyster batches along with the various dipping sauces. For the fried oysters I was provided cocktail sauce and a pretty good tarter sauce that was heavy and flavorful. Accompanying the oysters was a fresh coleslaw that was prepared well, not runny and still very crispy providing the fresh light crunch that is so good with fried foods. It also was served with a side of fries. The restaurant is located out on the end of the point, not the first blue building that you see when pulling in to park. There is a seafood counter with all kinds of seafood available for purchase from oysters to clams, shrimp, halibut, salmon and many other items. The restaurant has large windows that look out to the Tillamook bay.

The menu at the fish peddler has several kinds of oyster options from fried, grilled, sauteed, and also oyster shooters. There is kids options and other seafood fair like halibut and chips.

The Pizza Garden is a nice restaurant right in the middle of Nehalem as you wind along the water it will be on your right if you are going north towards Canon Beach or Seaside. The view from the table is great and even on a rainy day you can enjoy the scenery. The food is good and while on the little more expensive end for a Pizza it is a good and the place itself is a joy to eat at. The bright colors are inviting and the large panel windows provide lots of natural light even on a heavy cloudy day. We ended up getting a couple of different pizza’s since it is the Pizza Garden after all. They had several Lasagna’s that sounded delicious and will try on a future visit. We orded the pesto with raosted veggies and a marinated shrimp pizza. Both came with whole cloves of garlics which tend to be a little much for us, but if you are into that you will love it. They come off easily thogh and give the pizza a great flavor so no harm in our minds. We enjoyed the pizza and the place and will return sometime in the future. Check out the following pictures of the Pizza Garden.
